Ad Size Augmentation

Ad Size Augmentation is a feature that automatically expands the list of ad sizes in an outgoing request to demand partners. This increases the probability of receiving a bid by allowing DSPs to respond with related, high-performing sizes that weren't originally in the SSP request.

How It Works

The platform uses a predefined grouping system based on aspect ratios to determine which sizes to add.

Expand to see the table with supported ad size grouping.

Group Description Size (WxH) Aspect Ratio
Vertical / Portrait 300x600 0.5
720x1280 0.56
360x640 0.56
320x480 0.67
768x1024 0.75
250x300 0.83
Square 250x250 1
Horizontal / Landscape 300x250 1.2
336x280 1.2
360x300 1.2
1024x768 1.33
480x320 1.5
1920x1080 1.78
1280x720 1.78
Wide Horizontal 320x100 3.2
Leaderboard / Banner 300x50 6
320x50 6.4
468x60 7.8
728x90 8.09

Conditions for Activation:

  • The feature must be enabled at both the SSP and DSP levels: the "Ad size augmentation" toggle must be enabled in the SSP's and DSP's Main Settings.
  • The connection must be an RTB endpoint and RTB profile.
  • The Impression Opportunity (IO) must contain a Banner object.

1. Outgoing Request Logic

If at least one size from a predefined group appears in the incoming SSP request, the platform will append all other sizes from that group to the outgoing request sent to the DSP.

Example:

  • Incoming SSP Request: 320x480 and 300x50.
  • Outgoing DSP Request: 320x480, 300x50, PLUS 300x600, 720x1280, 360x640, 768x1024, 250x300, 320x50, 468x60, and 728x90.

2. Size Selection in Response

When a DSP responds, the platform applies the following rules to select the final size:

  • Matched Size: If the size was in the original SSP request, it is passed back as-is.

    • DSP response 320x480 → Returned to SSP: 320x480.

  • Unmatched Size: If the size was not in the original request, the system returns the closest size by aspect ratio from the original SSP request.

    • DSP response 720x1280 → Returned to SSP: 320x480 (closest aspect ratio).

  • No Size Specified: If the DSP response lacks a size, the first size from the original SSP request is returned.

    • DSP response [none] → Returned to SSP: 320x480 (first size from SSP request).
